BIS · SETU Waterford — Founder, Keystone DigitalAvailable for placement · January 2027

I sell, design and build websites and the systems behind them for businesses in the South East, and I study how that works at SETU. 26 sites so far. Every screen in this tower is one I made.

I'm Dylan. I'm in third year of Business Information Systems at SETU Waterford, and I run a web studio from home in Piltown. I find local businesses, win them over on the phone and in person, build their websites, and keep them running on monthly care plans. Some weeks that's a café menu. Some weeks it's wiring a warehouse's accounts package into a web shop.

Four client projects, from a café's first website to a warehouse's stock system. Sold, designed, built and launched by Keystone Digital, which for most of it means me.

An industrial supplier's web shop, stocked straight from Sage 50.

Airpower came in through my first paid-ads test. Their old WordPress site had been hacked and was serving casino spam. I rebuilt it as a WooCommerce catalogue, then wrote the program that keeps its stock in step with the accounts package on their own server.

What a Business Information Systems student does with a summer: read a live ERP database he must never write to, and turn it into a shop.

Airpower stock sync architectureSage 50 on the client's server is read over a read-only ODBC connection by StockSync every 15 minutes. Changed stock is pushed in batches to the WooCommerce REST API that powers airpower.ie. A separate hourly watchdog emails if syncing stops.no write path backSELECT onlySage 50 Accountson the client's own serverODBC, 32-bit driverthe stock of recordStockSyncPython 3.13 · every 15 minfree = stock − allocateddiff → push what changedWooCommerceREST API · batch updates≤ 50 items per requestevery item checkedairpower.ie8,199 productslive stock + pricesWatchdogruns hourly, on its ownlast good sync > 2 h ago?✉ emails me and the client if syncing stops, and again when it recovers
01 · The problem

The stock lived in Sage. The website had no idea.

Airpower sells pneumatic and vacuum parts to industry. Every stock level is kept in Sage 50 on a server in their office, so the new shop had nothing true to say about what was on the shelf.

02 · Read, never write

Three separate reasons it can't touch their accounts.

  1. The Sage ODBC driver is read-only by design.
  2. The code has exactly one SQL statement, and it's a SELECT.
  3. The connection itself is opened read-only.
03 · Only what changed

Every 15 minutes: read, compare, push the difference.

Free stock is in-stock minus allocated. Only changed lines go to WooCommerce, at most 50 at a time, and every item in every response is checked. Retries back off, a lockfile stops overlapping runs, and a dry-run mode let the client approve the price list on screen first.

04 · Someone's watching

If it stops, somebody hears about it within the hour.

A separate watchdog runs hourly. If the last good sync is more than two hours old, it emails. It reminds every six hours and sends an all-clear when things recover. It runs with no daemon, no GUI and no database: each run starts, works and exits.

05 · Install day · 6 August 2026

On their server, first live run:

58,513

Sage rows read. Zero unmatched. Prices and stock went live on airpower.ie that afternoon, backed by 119 automated tests. Two bugs surfaced on the day. Both were fixed the same day.

04

Live client sites link out. Pitch concepts are homepages I built for a business before they'd agreed to anything. It's how I sell: show them, then ask.

Pitch concepts use each business's own photos and branding and were shown only to that business. They weren't commissioned, and they're labelled that way.

05

Tools I've built to run the business, my degree and my own life. None of them were set as coursework.

I build with AI coding agents, and I'm upfront about it.

My job is the part that doesn't autocomplete. I decide what's worth building, write the brief, and set the rules it can't break. Then I test it on the real hardware, with the real client, and I answer for it when it ships. Every system below has written safety rules, a test suite, and a person who's read every line that touches money or a customer.

0messages sent without me

Every morning a site-watch agent checks every hosted site's SSL, domain expiry, headers and uptime. A briefing agent turns that into a 40-line summary I can read on my phone. On Mondays another agent reads Stripe and updates the ledger. There are also agents for renewals, monthly WordPress maintenance, client follow-ups and a weekly state rollup. They all read and write one shared set of files.

Draft, never send. Read, never move money. Log, never delete.

No agency behind me and almost no ad budget. A phone, a laptop and a free homepage.

  1. 01Find

Lead Finder surfaces businesses with a weak or missing site. I call or walk in. That's 15–20 calls a day in summer.

  2. 02Show

Before anyone pays, I build a working homepage from their own photos and branding. If they don't like it, they keep the ideas.

  3. 03Sign

A deposit is taken in person, by Stripe invoice or tap-to-pay on my phone.

  4. 04Build

Custom WordPress themes, or Next.js where it earns its place. Built fast, accessible and indexable, then hardened before launch.

  5. 05Keep

A monthly care plan covers hosting, backups, security, updates and a monthly maintenance pass on every site.

The ad

Thirty-five seconds, one camera, my face.

I wrote it and filmed it at my desk, and a freelancer cut it. It ran in my first Meta campaign: 16 leads at €14.68 each, from €234.83. The video carried 86% of the campaign's delivery, and one of those leads was Airpower.
